Vogue Italia, the Olympus of racism, ignorance and dementia.
It's simply terrible to see the dementia, lack of culture and the total absence of intelligence that seems to characterize the small and miserable editorial office of Vogue Italia, which over recent years has become so desperate as to survive by taking from other people's ideas here and there in the hope of selling the odd extra copy, but to no avail.
Amongst their latest monstrous in house creations we just have to mention an interesting article published on their website, praising the return in fashion of “slave earrings”. Read their wonderful thoughts below.
"Slave Earrings"
"Jewellery has always flirted with circular shapes, Especially for use in making earrings. The most classic models are the slave and Creole styles in gold hoops. If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of color who were brought to the southern United States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom. Colored stones, pendants and multiple symbolic spheres. And the evolution goes on."
I bet you can’ believe it! The result? A stream of insults which included “idiots”, “lunatics”, “ignoramuses”, and “utter racists”.
The most knowledgeable of all the Italian “trashionistas” in the hen house, the conjuror of all bad taste, in other words the chief editor, with grotesque punctuality provided an explanation in a note declaring, “ We apologize for the incident, but it was an oversight, a translation error, we never meant to offend anyone and to show our good faith we are removing the entire article (note that the title was modified to “Ethnic Earrings and the background fashion images remained) .
A translation error? An oversight? If you really were in good faith, in such a situation you would either leave the whole article or remove it completely, don’t you agree?
You can’t write an article with an offensive title and then say that it was due to an oversight, a translation error when you have gone so far as to elaborate it with comments that would horrify the worst racists: “If the name brings to the mind the decorative traditions of the women of color who were brought to the southern United States during the slave trade, the latest interpretation is pure freedom”…
Is this last paragraph also an oversight? A translation error?
Slavery, deportations and holocausts don’t belong to the history of fashion, they are not an oversight, nor are they a squalid interpretation of glamour. Which fashion trend or article would you like to restore freedom to next? Clothing and accessories for the millions of Jews who arrived at Auschwitz during the Holocaust?
A slave is a deportee, not a traveler, not a dreamer, but a desperate man or woman deprived of freedom, soul, dignity and identity.
This is no error; this is you, a group of pathetic morons, with one thing in common… a racist upbringing.
And you dear Jonathan, do you not feel shame for all this? Yes, shame.
